LOTR CHECK

I finally conquered the most important experience missing from my film watching resume. Nine hours of kings, hobbits, elves, orcs, dwarfs and wizards. I had watched FOTR before, and it was really a struggle to get through. I didn’t enjoy it whatsoever and couldn’t care less at the time. Now with the chunk of time available to me, I thought I’d try again. Feels like I just lost so much weight having watched this. I am so happy.

The trilogy has such a great reputation, in every aspect, that going in I had such high expectations. To be honest Im not quite sure if it lived up to those gold expectations of mine, but the trilogy is without question really fucking good. I understand the hype. ROTK definitely should’ve won best picture, as the trilogy seriously is just one continuous movie. I felt the movies kept getting better and better as the minutes went on, but maybe its because I naturally grew more invested. I’ll probably revisit these again someday in the far future, and am excited to see how they’d sit upon a second watching.

The world building is so fucking sick. Maurdaur always looks terrifying and the castles were stunning. Fuck would it be amazing to live in one of those castles or what. I wish I lived in some dumb ass old shit like that. I believe alot of the shots are so fucking sick because New Zealand is also naturally stunning. I sure as hell wanted to go to New Zealand before watching this, but after finishing the trilogy I definitely plan on going there someday.

The story truly is an amazing adventure. Its a great ride and could entertain absolutely anyone. I could imagine seeing these in theaters for the first time, would be fucking unreal. There must’ve been so much hype around these by the time it got to ROTK, theaters must’ve been packed and must’ve been an amazing movie going experience. These are all such theater movies, that I almost sort of felt dirty watching them at my own expense in my own home on my couch.

422 days straight of shooting is fucking mental. I haven’t done that much research but I believe that it’s still the longest shoot a production has ever had even until this day. I couldn’t imagine all the time and effort into creating three continuous, three hour epics that went on to win various awards. Unbelievable. I tip my hat to everyone that was apart from the production as I couldn’t imagine the amount of problems and commotion director Peter Jackson went through to get this done. Especially to the level of praise it was received with.

Can someone tell me why samwise always referred to frodo as Mr. Frodo? Samwise put in fifteen times more work than Frodo ever did to get the job done, and it sorta went unrecognized. Gandalf starting out TTT was fucking electric how he comes back. If Aragorn isnt your favorite character you might want to check yourself, because hes so fucking hard time and time again. Fucking beast, did it for all of the pure men out there. True King so earned son. I wanted to see more of Galadriel because I love Cate Blanchett right now. Gollum also was an amazing character for the sake of the story, just a complete different take on a side plot, that had you guessing the whole time, but it just made so much sense on every level. My nufd LOTR trilogy top 10 Character Power Rankings is as follows:

  1. Aragorn
  2. Boromir
  3. Sauraun
  4. Galadirel
  5. Samwise
  6. Nazgul
  7. Legolas
  8. Treebeard
  9. Gandalf
  10. Faramir
