Here lays my all time best professional quarterback rankings. Based upon various variables such as winning, stats, situations, and everything in that a professional quarterback entails. The list is capped at 18 because I believe there was a tier drop off from 18 on. There’s also no one who played before the 1970s. No, disrespect but unfortunately I don’t give a fuck, that was so long ago and the games evolved drastically I don’t know if any of those pioneers could take a hit in today’s NFL. Terry Bradshaw, Sammy Baugh, Johnny Units and Roger Staubach and them dusty rings can hit the road.
If this was a list of best arm talent of all time, this would be a complete different list, this is the greatest professional quarterback of all time list so it takes everything into account. Everything. Whole professional career in everyway possible on the field.
The elephant in the room is Tom Brady as number one. Sure, greatest ever. Sooner or later, I will write something disavowing him as the greatest, but for now let’s just put him at one and focus on the meat and potatoes of the list.
Joe Montana was the face of football for so many years. Nine Divisional Championships and Four Rings with MVPS in three of them. He seemed to make shit look effortless, the number one spot would be his if Tom Brady never played for Bill Belichick.
Peyton Manning should have more championships, but football is such a team sport he ended up on the with the short end of the stick a few too many times. With the most MVPs with five all time, Peyton had a great arm, great mind, great leadership and a long career. Picture perfect, quarterback in every way, there will never be another Peyton Manning.
Drew Brees would own every NFL passing record also If Bill Belichick never drafted Tom Brady. At six foot flat, Brees defied all odds his whole career. Second, all time in yards, completions and TDs Brees fucking handled business every fucking year to the highest level possible.
Pat Mahomes is already fifth all-time. I’d argue in five years alone he’s had a better career than everyone to ever play quarterback on a professional level, aside from four guys and all they have on him at the moment is longevity. He’s already on pace to break everything. Five seasons, five conference championship appearances, Three Super Bowl appearances, Two rings, Two Super Bowl MVPS along with Two regular season MVPS. Guys’ talent is off the charts and can do anything a quarterback has ever done on the field at a professional level. His arm is worth billions and as the years go on, will only be climbing this list.
Dan Marino is just fucking nasty. To be this high with no championships show how fucking gross he was. I’ve watched the tape… If Marino played in today’s NFL the league would be in shambles. What an arm and to have the eighth most passing yards of all time, playing his whole career in that era is unreal. Twenty years before the rest of the guys in the top ten yards, it really is a testament to how nasty he was.
It’s a shame, Rodgers only has one championship. He should have more because his arm talent is fucking special. Such a great pure gunslinger and has the second most MVPS all time with four. It’s sad because his arm talent is so insane, with better defenses or maybe a coach named Belichick or Reid, he’d without a doubt be a few spots higher on this list.
John Elway is the greatest quarterback prospect of all time. He is the gold standard and is the highest bar possible for a comparison of a quarterback coming out of college. Fucking golden boy, golden arm, golden hair. There will never be a prospect like John Elway.
